Work the Tunnel, Not the Mound.

Gophers do their damage out of sight. A single animal maintains a tunnel system that can run several hundred feet, feeding on roots from below and severing irrigation lines as it goes. The fan-shaped mounds on the surface are the visible symptom; the main runway sits below and to the side of them, which is exactly why store-bought traps dropped into a mound so rarely work.

We probe to locate the main runway, then set traps in the active tunnel where the animal actually travels. Placement and burrow condition matter more than volume — a correctly set trap in the right run outperforms a dozen in the wrong one. Because gophers are territorial, removing the resident animal usually clears the area for a period, but neighboring properties and open land keep pressure on the boundary. For customers with valuable landscaping or turf, we set up recurring monitoring so a new arrival gets caught before the tunnel system spreads.
